FreeCheapEdu is an independent directory of education funding and lower-cost career-training routes in the United States. It helps you find the next useful question to ask: What can this program cover? Do its rules fit my situation? What will I still need to pay?
What this first edition covers
State grants and tuition support, work- and service-related benefits, national training pathways, career comparisons, an options finder, historical school cost references and planning tools for training or degree costs. Each state and DC has collected starting points; provider choices and application details remain incomplete. Use each resource’s scope and official next steps to check whether it fits your situation.
How the information is prepared
Program summaries link to their sources and show when they were checked. This edition was prepared with automated research and source review. No named human reviewer or professional credential is claimed.

The options finder and cost tools calculate in your browser. They do not ask for a Social Security number or require a FreeCheapEdu account. The tools do not submit your entered financial figures to FreeCheapEdu. Official applications and school calculators run on their own websites.
The training comparison and degree planner save a draft in this browser tab using session storage, so it can be restored after a reload. Use “Clear draft” in each planner to reset the plan and clear its saved draft when storage is available, especially on a shared computer. If clearing is blocked, the planner warns that the saved draft may remain; clear this site’s data in your browser before sharing the device. These drafts are not account or cloud backups. If browser storage is blocked, keep the page open or print/save your plan.
The training planner can put its career and state choices in the page’s URL fragment. It does not put the financial figures there. Opening an official resource takes you to that provider’s own service and privacy practices.
Our independence
FreeCheapEdu is not affiliated with the U.S. Department of Education, Federal Student Aid or any school. This is educational information, not financial, tax, legal or admissions advice. The official program and your institution determine eligibility and awards.
