What it covers
Need-based help with eligible nondegree course costs. Amount varies by financial circumstances, course cost, programme type and available funds; no fixed current maximum is established in this record.
Income / financial rules
Provide requested income, tax/untaxed-income, asset, course-cost and other-aid information. Need and course costs affect the award; this is not a single universal income cutoff.
Who to check first
Be a Vermont resident not enrolled in high school, taking a nondegree/nonmatriculated course or programme to improve employment or encourage further study.
Application timing
Apply while the intended academic year still has funding. The Pathway page names the 2026–27 nondegree form, and first-come funding is limited; no universal year-specific final date is established.

Check your eligibility

Some items describe alternative routes rather than requirements for everyone. Use the route that applies to you as a preparation checklist; the program makes the eligibility decision.

How to apply

  1. 1
Sign into MyVSAC, select Work with Grants / Apply for a Vermont Grant and complete the Advancement application for nondegree courses. Gather the course name, cost, start date, school, term and other aid.
  2. 2
If FAFSA-ineligible, return the Advancement Pathway form and requested tax records to VSAC. The reviewed Pathway page lists a 2026–27 form; confirm the correct form for any later term.
  3. 3
Monitor MyVSAC requests; the school verifies enrollment after class starts before payment goes directly to the school. Ask VSAC to add a course or correct an existing application.

What to watch for

The Advancement Pathway does not permit receiving the full/part-time college grant for the same semester, or for two semesters in the stated 2026–27 year. Confirm your actual combination rather than stacking grants automatically.
GED exam costs are excluded. A completed class may still be considered only if it began in an academic year for which funding remains; contact VSAC rather than assuming reimbursement.
